Replacing a hydraulic cartridge valve requires separate approval of the cavity, the hydraulic function and the mounting package. A replacement may fit the existing manifold yet route oil differently when power is removed. Another replacement may be suitable only with a documented retrofit plate and associated hardware. This is not a recommended substitution pair. It demonstrates why an approved cavity alone cannot complete a replacement decision. The equipment's required unpowered state, commanded flow paths and electrical control arrangement must also match. For the three-position example, the manufacturer describes separate commands to two coils; a familiar connector or nominal supply voltage does not establish that the machine provides the required controls.
Have the technical comparison refer to the actual hydraulic symbols and full model options. The supplier's conclusion should identify what remains equivalent, not simply repeat “fits VC10-4.” If the function changes, the proposal is a circuit change requiring the appropriate engineering review, not an ordinary like-for-like parts substitution.
Not every supported replacement uses the old retention hardware. Conversely, a different-generation valve does not automatically require a new manifold. A manufacturer may document a specific retrofit that retains an existing cavity.
