For the affected flat-seal references in Delphi's Volvo E3.3 replacement program, replacing one faulty injector can require changing the engine's injectors to the conical-seal design. This is a specific sealing-conversion requirement, not a general rule that one failed diesel injector always means replacing the entire set. Delphi identifies the affected references on its current E-series program page.

The purchasing question is therefore larger than “does the connector fit?” Confirm whether the engine has the covered flat-seal arrangement, whether the proposed reference belongs to the conversion program, and whether the ordered package contains the matching engine-side sleeves and seals.

What Changes at the Injector-to-Head Interface

Delphi's HLN 19/01 installation note, dated April 2019 and still linked by the current program page, distinguishes a flat sealing arrangement with a copper sleeve from a conical arrangement with a stainless-steel sleeve. For the covered conversion, the sealing styles must not be mixed within the engine, and the replacement injector requires the appropriate new engine-side sleeve.

The note also specifies an upper O-ring only for the covered conical EUI arrangement, with no lower O-ring. That instruction is specific to this configuration. It is not permission to remove seals from another injector because it looks similar.

Keep the document date visible in the job record. It explains the documented program, but it is not a 2026 release bulletin. The current instructions applicable to the exact engine and supplied injector govern the actual service work.

An O-Ring Kit Is Not a Sleeve-Conversion Package

Delphi's seal-kit page lists HTK134 for John Deere E1/Volvo E3.3 as one O-ring. That listing does not establish that HTK134 contains a stainless sleeve or all parts needed for a conversion. The same page lists different kit contents for other applications; a kit with more O-rings is not necessarily the correct kit.

Ask the seller to state the contents of the actual offered package. An invoice line saying “injector with seal kit” leaves two questions unanswered: which seal kit, and where are any other required installation components sourced?

A clear service order distinguishes the injector reference, the required sleeve, the correct seal arrangement and any other engine-maker-specified service items. Mark each item as supplied with the injector, separately supplied, or still unresolved. Do not label the package complete until the workshop can reconcile it with the applicable instructions.

Keep the Conversion Evidence with the Engine Record

Record the pre-repair sealing configuration and the completed configuration against the same engine identity. Retain the selected replacement references and the document used to approve the change. A later buyer should be able to tell whether the engine still has the original arrangement or has already been converted.

This avoids a specific repeat-order mistake: reordering from an old removed-part number without noticing that the engine-side configuration changed at the last repair.
