Donaldson's configurable spin-on assemblies, Parker Racor 600, and MANN+HUMMEL PreLine Flex solve different fuel pre-filter configuration problems. Donaldson requires a deliberate head, element, and bowl selection. Racor 600 offers identifiable hand-primed separator assemblies whose heater and sensing options change the order. PreLine Flex is a modular platform in which the pump, element, and housing arrangement must be specified together. These are three programs to compare, not an independent quality ranking or three interchangeable replacements. Start with the installation's requirements, then compare complete configurations. Buying an element, a head, or a named family does not necessarily buy a working pre-filter assembly.

Three Programs, Three Configuration Decisions

Program

Decision it helps a buyer investigate

What must be resolved before ordering

Donaldson fuel assemblies

Build a specified primary-filter arrangement from compatible spin-on components

Head version, primary element, required bowl/drain, mounting and total envelope

Racor 600

Choose a defined hand-primed separator and its service/electrical package

Exact regional assembly number, service element, heater circuit and sensing scope

PreLine Flex

Specify a modular pre-filter around a packaging and priming requirement

Approved pump, head, element length, cover/bowl and accessory combination

The comparison is application-neutral. It does not establish local manufacturing, authorized distribution, stock, or delivery in Thailand or any other market. It also assumes that the system actually needs a primary filtration or water-separation function. Use the primary-versus-secondary filter guide if the service stage itself is unresolved.

Donaldson: Choose the Head and Service Scope

Donaldson's fuel-assembly program spans several spin-on diameters, including a 108 mm family. The family name alone is too broad for an order: different elements serve different filtration duties, and selecting a head does not select every required service component.

The official 108 mm catalog chapter makes the head choice concrete:

Head

Listed port thread

Configuration

P576071

M14 × 1.5

Basic head

P576072

M16 × 1.5

Basic head

P579972

M16 × 1.5

Hand-priming head

P579979

M18 × 1.5

Hand-priming head

That chapter restricts the priming heads to chassis mounting and lists different maximum head flows: 480 l/h for hand priming versus 600 l/h for the basic head. It identifies primary element P552852 as a service item requiring a bowl/drain; P559852 is the filter-and-bowl kit. The listed P552860 bowl adds 75 mm to filter length.

Purchasing consequence: Compare quotations only after head, element, bowl and mounting agree. Separate replenishment parts from the complete installation order.

Racor 600: Options Change the Order

Parker's Racor 600 family sheet, revision February 2014, describes an in-head hand primer and reusable collection bowl for transfer-pump suction-side installation. For an actual selection, the regional model and its documentation matter more than that family description.

The March 2025, Rev C cutsheet lists 660R10 as a 10-micron assembly and 660R1210 as its 12 V heated configuration. Its 660-series listing gives 60 gph, 3/8-18 NPTF ports, R60T as the 10-micron replacement element, and 2 inches of service clearance. These are document-specific selection facts, not permission to replace an unidentified separator.

Heating and detection need their supporting parts. The same cutsheet identifies separate initial-installation heater relays, including RK11861 for 12 V and RK11862 for 24 V. A water probe can also require a separate detection amplifier. Ask which components are supplied, not merely whether the assembly is “heated” or “sensor ready.”

Parker's European 600-series bulletin includes metric-port variants. That is a reason to preserve region and revision on the purchasing record, not to mix metric fittings with the North-American NPTF specification.

Purchasing consequence: A 660R10 enquiry and a heated 660R1210 enquiry need different supply scopes. The latter must address the supported electrical installation as well as the filter. Keep the installation bill separate from the recurring service-element order so the workshop does not receive a consumable when it needs wiring-related accessories, or buy a complete assembly for routine element replacement.

PreLine Flex: Freeze the Module Combination

MANN+HUMMEL's PreLine Flex flyer, October 2023, shows basic, hand-pump, and electric-pump concepts; short and long elements; cover and bowl choices; and drain, water-in-fuel, recirculation, and heater modules. The portfolio figure of up to 650 l/h is not the rated flow of every possible combination.

Purchasing consequence: Request one approved configuration drawing and bill of materials, including service references. The module illustration does not approve parts mixing or a drop-in replacement for an existing head.

Separate Installation and Service Orders

Ask for two itemized lists: everything needed to commission the proposed installation, and the parts needed for its next routine service. Mark retained components separately. Compare quotations against these same lists so a missing accessory cannot masquerade as a lower complete-system price.

Do Not Rank Programs by Brochure Maximums

The cited documents do not provide one common-condition, three-way performance test. A head-flow limit, an assembly rating, and a portfolio maximum are different evidence. Comparing those numbers directly would not establish the best water separation, lowest restriction, or longest service life.

For a technical comparison, obtain data for each complete proposed configuration under the relevant test conditions. Keep fuel, flow, temperature, filtration stage, and new-versus-loaded condition explicit. The filter-media evidence guide explains why a material label cannot replace performance evidence.

Send Elecdura the installed system or engineering requirement, the shortlisted configuration, missing components, quantity, and destination through the fuel pre-filter configuration enquiry. The fuel-filter category is a sourcing entry point, not a claim that Elecdura is an authorized distributor of these programs or holds every configuration in stock.

Configuration Comparison FAQs

Are these three programs interchangeable?

No interchangeability has been established here. A program comparison identifies different purchasing routes. Replacement approval requires the actual assembly's interfaces, installation limits, duty, and supported configuration, not similarity between product photographs.

Does a replacement element include a complete separator?

Do not assume so. The Donaldson example distinguishes a service item from a filter-and-bowl kit, while the Racor example separates the replacement element from the assembly. Identify what remains on the vehicle and what the order must replace.

Why retain the Racor document region and revision?

The reviewed documents include different port variants and option details. A family name does not resolve that difference. Match the ordered reference to its applicable drawing and parts list before specifying fittings or service accessories.

Does the highest published flow identify the best option?

No. First identify what each number describes and the conditions behind it. Then compare eligible complete configurations. A higher headline value cannot resolve a mounting restriction, unsupported accessory combination, or unsuitable filtration duty.

Can we order a PreLine Flex combination from the module diagram alone?

Use the diagram to frame an enquiry, not as final approval. Obtain the configuration identity, included parts, dependencies, installation drawing, and service references from the responsible supplier. Keep any unresolved combination out of the approved purchase order.
